Frequently Asked Questions

Your Hey Mic! will ship within 24-48 hours. You will receive a shipment notification.

Anywhere! We leverage Amazon distribution in the US, Canada, and the UK. For other countries, we have shipping hubs in the UK and Australia to ensure your mic reaches you safely wherever you are. Depending on your location, you may be charged duty when it arrives in your country, and we have had a few instances of customers having to contact their country’s customs department to get their deliveries released.

It all depends on what you want to use it for. If you want truly professional video, you’ll probably still need the professionals. But for everyday video from up to 60 feet away from the camera, Hey Mic! beats the inbuilt mobile/computer microphone hands down. We have lots of happy customers and if you check out some of the videos on our social media pages, we think you’ll agree!

No! Our mic works with any app or device that supports a Bluetooth microphone. This includes laptop and desktop computers – we like to use ours for meetings on Skype/Zoom, for example.

With mobile phones, things are a little less clear cut. Each application has to be specifically built to support a Bluetooth microphone. Voice Memos on the iPhone, for example, does work, but the native video cameras on mobile phones do not at this time.

For video, we created Hey Cam! For iPhone (sadly our app for Android didn’t work out) but you can also use other video apps such as Filmic Pro, Movie Pro and FV-5 Lite (Android). Our favorite is Movie Pro and Hey Cam! is essentially a lite version of this app.

Our customers are always stretching their use of Hey Mic! and have reported other apps and devices that work. We’ve heard that it works with adventure cameras such as Go Pro and the voice dictate function on iPhone XS, as well as other voice transcribing apps on Android and iPhone. If you use your mic with any other apps on your phone, let us know and we’ll add them to our list.

You certainly can! We often use ours with Zoom or Skype for online meetings and conferences. You can even place it in the middle of a small table and it’ll pick up other people’s voices. We’re not aware of any apps or programmes on a PC/Mac that don’t support the mic, so you should be good to go!

You would need to find out whether what you intend to use Hey Mic! with supports a Bluetooth microphone. It’s important not to confuse BLUETOOTH SUPPORT as a guarantee that it will work with a BLUETOOTH MICROPHONE. For example, we are often asked about DSLR cameras. Many newer DSLR cameras are Bluetooth enabled but that is for transferring files – not for audio input like a microphone. As apps are generally built by individuals there’s no real uniformity regarding whether our mic will work. Feel free to drop us a line with the name of the programme and we can find out for you.

Yes and no. Hey Mic! works with Facebook Live if you’re streaming from a computer, but the mobile phone app doesn’t support Bluetooth as an audio source at this time, so the mic doesn’t work. Same with Instagram and Twitter.

The mic DOES, however, work with YouTube Live, but not the regular video function. As you see, there’s little consistency in this world!

Most definitely! The voice recorder app on your phone supports our mic, so you could use that, as well as many voice recorder apps on Apple and Google Play that supports a Bluetooth input.

Absolutely! Julie used to be a teacher so she knows where you’re coming from. You will need TWO Hey Mic!s so that you can wear one and charge one at the same time.

No. Hey Mic! helps you to capture video on your phone as a microphone. It doesn’t connect to speakers or other AV equipment to make your voice louder for the audience. For that, you still need a microphone, amplifier and speaker.

Probably! We do like affiliates as they help us to get the word out. Drop us a note if you think Hey Mic! would be a good fit for your audience and we can chat about it – info@loveheymic.com

Not quite. The Hey Mic! battery lasts between 4-6 hours so if you are looking to record longer than that you’ll probably want to buy 2 so you can use one wile the other one is charging.

While Hey Mic! was designed for getting great audio with smartphone videos, it can certainly do a lot more! It is Bluetooth microphone so any device that accepts that will benefit. For example, you could use it with Skype on your PC or Mac. That’s what Julie does!

I wish we could help! Unfortunately, as soon as Hey Mic! is connected, it takes over the Bluetooth and stops the hearing aids from working. They can’t be used together.

We have to level with you here. When we were manufacturing our mics we had Hey Cam! in development for both Android and iPhone. The Apple app was delivered perfectly, the Android app… not so much. After lots of wasted time and cash we decided not to go ahead with it, as there are other video apps such as FV-5 and Filmic Pro which work great. We can only apologise for being a little premature when printing our instructions, but hopefully you’ll agree that you can certainly still use Hey Mic! with your phone.

Hey Mic! will deliver great audio up to 65 ft away (and we’ve even stretched that on occasion). Keep in mind that Bluetooth works best across open space – no walls or other obstructions – and that it can suffer interference near large power grids.

We are confident that you’ll love Hey Mic! but just in case you don’t, you have 30 days to return it to us for a full refund (less shipping). Just drop us a note first at office@loveheymic.com so we know it’s coming and can hopefully fix whatever issue your experiencing. There is also a 1 year manufacturers warranty against defects. In short, we’ll help you get sorted out and make sure you’re happy.

Sadly, no, you can’t connect 2 at the same time. It is a limitation of the mobile phone – they will only support one Bluetooth device at a time for input. Julie has used hers to do an interview and it does a pretty good job of capturing 2 person audio when placed between them. You can see an example HERE.
